Kishwar Naheed

Poet, writer and activist

Panelist

One of the leading literary figures in Pakistan and a prominent voice on the literary scene, Kishwar Naheed is widely known, and her work translated into eleven different languages, including Hindi, Arabic, Persian, French and Chinese. According to a critic, in some of her most important poems, Kishwar Naheed's outspokenness seems to be challenging the poetic metaphor. But outspokenness alone establishes her writ as a poet, to represent, and to speak up for the downtrodden, especially the women of Pakistan. Her poetry is a celebration of resistance. Her autobiography has been published in Urdu and English.
